Elections

It's that time of the year again! Elections are a huge part of New Zealand because it decides which party is going to run as New Zealand's Government in the future. There are seven parties all together in New Zealand. But mainly only  two stand out. National, with their leader John Key, Labour, with their leader David Cunliffe.

Votes will only count only at certain places and at certain times. You will vote by ticking your party that you would like to become future government.

If National win, they will get more education for children, mainly for Disabled children. They've also made a promise to invest in making more houses for families. Addition to that, National will Invest One Hundred million dollars over ten years to improve freshwater qualities in our waterways.

Labour on the other hand, will get $16.25 minimum wage. They will also be hiring 2,000 teachers, investing over 100 million dollars towards new classrooms. Finally Labour will provide every student, from years 5-13 will all receive a portable digital device, for schoolwork.

If I had to vote, even though Im to young. I would vote for labour, because labour has more polices than the other parties and Labour has more opportunities in line for me.

Heal The World Reflection

This week us, year 8 boys had the opportunity to make a MTV to show a message about bullying. We had to choose a about 5 songs all created by the extraordinary Michael Jackson. We choose Heal The World because it was really intriguing.

The other main part of this task was about self management. We had to manage ourselves to get this finished by a set time and that was Monday. We had four days to complete this and we accomplished it.

I think that our group were really good at managing ourselves because we got finished at the deadline. Something we could do better is to figure out a song faster, rather than spending a couple days debating about it. Maybe I could contribute more in acting.

Storyline's Reflection

Leaving in a bus we headed towards The Vodafone Events Centre to attend the Storyline's Tour starring four of the most unique authors in New Zealand. The names you might recognise, Catherine Mayo, Paula Green, Jill MacGregor and Juliette Mclver. They had different ways to write and engage the audience.

Firstly we had the 2 amazing authors that were most engaging, Catherine Mayo followed up by Juliette Mclver. Catherine is a more my type of writer because she writes about Ancient Greece and medieval days, and thats what I like. Juliette Mclver is a children's author. She writes more for little kids but she also hooked us in with her Rhymes.

Next was Jill MacGregor and Paula Green. Paula was a Poet and she loved anything to do with Poems and Rhymes, Jill on the other hand, was a School Journalist who wrote all about what she did in the Islands.
